New Courthouse To Open This Morning
Mayor Joseph Polisena and several state and federal officials are expected at the grand opening ceremonies for the court, which is housed in the former Mohr Library building.
About six and a half months after the work began, a grand opening ceremony for the town's new courthouse is scheduled for 10 a.m. this morning at 1600 Atwood Ave., across from the .
The location is the former home of the , which moved in April to a newly-built facility just a few hundred feet from the brick building where it had been since 1961.
Mayor Joseph Polisena said the town spent about $170,000 to complete the project, with town and school employees and many volunteers and business owners contributing to the effort to move the court from its former location in a leased storefront just off Route 6.

Court Administrator Joseph Tedino, who supervised the project, also served as lead carpenter and designer, by drafting the original plans and building the bar, podium, and benches that will also be used by the town council for their meetings beginning next month.
