News Brief: Council OKs Pension Board Change
Police and firefighters can serve on the board after five years of service.
Johnston police and firefighters will be eligible to serve on the recently-formed Retirement Board after five years if service, instead of the previous requirement for 10 years' experience, following a June 13 town council vote.
By a 5-0 vote, councilors approved the change to Ordinance 47-39 following a second reading of the new language. The council held a first reading of the amendment in May.
