News Brief: JHS Principal Outlines Accreditation Success

Johnston High School improved in key areas to earn a renewal of its accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

made advances in its technology classes; facilities and maintenance; and science laboratories, among other improvements, to earn its renewal of accreditation by the New England Schools and Colleges (NEASC), Principal Gerald K. Foley told the school committee on April 12.

Following an evaluation visit by a NEASC team last October, school officials had been awaiting the final word on whether the high school would retain its full accreditation status. Supt. Dr. Bernard DiLullo had previously expressed confidence that the high school would earn renewal.

Foley made his announcement nearly five years to the day — March 27, 2006 — that NEASC first reinstated the high school to full accreditation, after placing JHS on probation in 2000.
