Panthers Wrap 2012 Season with 14-4 Win on Senior Night
The Johnston High School baseball team finished the season with a 18-1 record and the first seed in the Division II playoffs.

Following up on a 6-0 shutout against Woonsocket on May 17 and an 8-1 trouncing of Scituate on May 19, the varsity baseball Panthers wrapped their season with a 14-4 victory at home over Davies Career and Technical Center High School.
Senior Eddie Pannone hit a double in the bottom of the fifth to provide the Panthers with a 10-run cushion and end the game under the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's mercy rule.

Monday night's game at was also senior night, and the team took the opportunity to recognize its departing upperclassmen, including captain Gian Bianchi and Pannone, McKenzie Robbins, Joseph Pecchia, Randy D'Aquila, and Rubens Grullon.
With the victory, the Panthers secured the first seed in the Division II playoffs, which have not yet been scheduled.

Johnston notched 18 wins during the regular season β including a 13-game win streak dating back to their only loss of the season on Apr. 11 against Ponaganset β improving on last year's 17-2 regular season tally.
