Pell Manor To Open New Outdoor Patio

A Memorial Day observance is also scheduled for May 31.

On May 31 at the Claiborne Pell Manor, state Rep. Stephen Ucci (D-Cranston, Johnston) and Johnston Town Councilwoman Eileen Fuoco (D-Dist. 1) will join residents in a ribbon-cutting for the new outdoor patio at the complex on Plainfield Street.

The event is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. with a Memorial Day observance in honor of America's veterans and military personnel.

Pell Tenants Association President Ralph Piccirrillo said he is very excited about the new initiative. 

“Due in part to the grant secured by Rep. Ucci, we were able to purchase new chairs and a gazebo in order that our association members enjoy the outdoors more often,” Piccirrillo explained.

Rep. Ucci said he was pleased that the grant was put to good use by the association.

“The impact of this grant is abundantly evident in the work and pride these residents have put into this beautiful patio,” Ucci said.

Executive Director David M. aRusso also thanked Ucci for his work in securing the legislative funds.

“We are very grateful to Rep. Ucci for his consistent support of all of the residents in Johnston public housing," aRusso said. "On Behalf of the tenants and the staff of the JHA ,we thank him for taking time to spend with us on this Memorial Day.”
