Update: One Killed & 2 Hurt in Serious Accident on I-295 Johnston
One person was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.

JOHNSTON, RI—State police are on the scene of a 3-vehicle crash with serious injuries. It happened Thursday morning around 10 in the northbound lane of I-295 near Route 44 and Exit 7. One of the involved vehicles appears to be a box truck, witnesses said.
Three people have been taken to the hospital, police said. The driver of the box truck was pronounced dead. A fourth person was not hurt.
Only 1 lane will be open for at least another hour on I-295 North at Exit 7A (Rt. 44) as investigators process a serious 3 car accident.

Captain John Allen, Patrol Commander, said the accident occurred around 9:50 a.m. in the middle and high-speed lanes of the highway, forcing the closure of those lanes while police and rescue crews are on scene.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
