Smoke Shop Owner Accused Of Selling Edibles Laced With Narcotics

A Johnston man was charged with selling narcotics-laced edibles at Glassco Smoke Shop, police said.

SMITHFIELD, RI—Police on Tuesday raided the Glassco Smoke Shop at 10A Cedar Swamp Road after an undercover police officer allegedly purchased numerous edible items containing controlled substances there. The shop had been a target of an extensive investigation, police said. Now the store's owner is facing charges.

Michael Brickey, 30, of Johnston, was charged with Delivery of a controlled substance to an undercover police officer, three counts; and Possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Brickey also has an outstanding warrant out of Pawtucket, with the Pawtucket Police Department for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, police said. His arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday.

Brickey was the proprietor of the business, and he "offered for sale edible and consumable items which contained the chemical compounds THC and CBD, which are considered schedule 1 narcotics," police allege. Oils, powders, and other edibles including gummy candy, lollipops, and popcorn were seized.
