JOHNSTON, RI— A young woman has died of gunshot wounds suffered at her father's home, Johnston police said. Police encountered a grisly scene Saturday afternoon when they responded to a home at 75 Bishop Hill Road.

According to Deputy Chief Daniel Parrillo, of the Johnston Police Department, the fire and police were called to that address around 3:08 p.m. for an incident of domestic violence.

They found Jessica Sutherland, 28, "lying in the grass with gunshot wounds" outside the home. Also outside, they found her father, Robert Sutherland, 55, bleeding from stab wounds to the chest.
