Mayor Joseph Polisena and Parks and Recreation Director Dan Mazzulla are shown giving speeches; the Johnston High School chorus and Vini Ames lend their voices to patriotic songs; and U.S. Army (Ret.) Lt. Col. Gary Maddocks Sr. reads the names of Johnston residents who gave their lives in service to America.
Also in the video, Johnston Police Lt. Thomas Dolan (MSG U.S. Army) reads In Flanders Field, a 1919 poem written by John McCrae; the Rhode Island National Guard fire a salute; Johnston High School Chorus performs Taps; the Kelley-Gazzero Post Honor Guard places a wreath at the memorial wall; and the Johnston Police Department honor guard retires the colors.
