The Johnston Zoning Board is scheduled to hear applications for residential additions and a proposal for a new day care center.

The Johnston Zoning Board, at its meeting scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. at the , is expected to hear three applications for additions to existing homes, a proposal for a new day care center in town, and a request to use existing garages for rental storage.

Jerrold and Margaret Shearer, of 12 Vittorio-Emmanuel Drive, have a pending applying to build a 15-by-25-foot garage on their property, which requires approval of a zoning variance to allow the size of the new structure.

The board is also scheduled to hear new applications from David and Colleen Muller, of 120 Hopkins Ave., for a new deck; and Anthony and Heather Baffoni, of 2 Cady St., to build a new shed dormer.

Each application requires board approval of variances from the town's required setbacks.

Maria Evangelista is scheduled to appear before the board ask their approval for a use variance — that is, a change in the purpose of an existing building — that would allow a day care center at 2766 Hartford Ave., the site of .

The final posted application is from Adam Helm and Gina Campbell, who are requesting a special use permit to store rental equipment in a garage at 318 Cherry Hill Rd.
