URI Theatre announces 2026-27 season with 'Cabaret,' 'Proof,' and more (southcotimes.com) — URI’s Theatre Department is rolling out a full 2026-27 season at the Fine Arts Center in Kingston, starting Oct. 16 with “Proof” and running through April with “Charlotte’s Web.” Local audiences can see student- and faculty-led productions that tackle mental health, feminism, history, and loss, all staged right on the Kingston campus.
   

2. What a $99M makeover did for URI's once-dark Fine Arts Center (newportri.com) — URI’s Fine Arts Center in Kingston has reopened after a $99 million renovation that transformed a dark brutalist complex into a bright, glass-filled hub for theater, art, and music. Residents can soon experience the new lobby, galleries, and upgraded theaters during upcoming productions of “Proof” in October and “Cabaret” in December.
   

3. Police Beat 9/1 – 9/17 (rhodycigar.com) — Recent campus police reports from Kingston detail an alcohol-related arrest, multiple reported sex offenses and harassment cases in URI residence halls, as well as several minor motor vehicle accidents around Kingston Emporium, Boss Ice Arena, and nearby roads. Residents and students can see where incidents have been occurring across the Kingston campus this month.
   

4. Mainfare renovations feature new late-night dining spot and improved allergy-safe options (rhodycigar.com) — URI students in Kingston will see big changes at Mainfare, as Dining Services expands seating, adds a new Mainfare West late-night spot, and builds a dedicated allergen-friendly station. The project also brings outdoor seating, upgraded décor, and faster made-to-order options, aiming to better serve growing enrollment and give students more flexible, comfortable dining choices.
   

5. Chalk the Quad event promotes reaching out for mental health support (rhodycigar.com) — URI students in Kingston recently joined the Chalk the Quad event, covering walkways with encouraging messages while learning about on-campus mental health resources. Counseling Center staff emphasized that it’s normal to struggle during transitions and urged students to reach out early, highlighting walk-in hours and ongoing outreach programs designed to make support more accessible.
