RI Education Commissioner shares message for new school year (wpri.com) — Middletown students are heading back to class as Rhode Island's new school year begins, and families are being urged to stay engaged and use available support. The state education commissioner highlights free mental health resources, warns about chronic absenteeism, and encourages parents to ask schools what services can help their children thrive this year.
5. URI football opens season with high hopes on Friday night at Merrimack (newportri.com) — A University of Rhode Island football player from Middletown is among the in-state athletes hoping to contribute as the Rams chase a third straight strong season. URI opens Friday night at Merrimack with high expectations, deep veteran leadership, and several local standouts ready to step up while renovations continue at Meade Stadium.
