MEC 2012 Grants Showcase and Annual Meeting

The Middletown Education Collaborative (MEC) is honored to announce the winners of its 2012 Scholarship Award and its 2012 Educator of the Year Award.

Middletown High School senior Covell Anthony has been awarded the 2012 MEC Scholarship.  MEC awards its scholarship based on an applicant’s record of community service.  Covell demonstrated his appreciation for and dedication to community service through his work with Middletown Safety Town, the Pan-Mass Challenge, tutoring, and MEC.  Covell will be attending URI in the Fall of 2012, with plans to continue his community service work after graduation with the Peace Corps.  Congratulations Covell!

The MEC 2012 Educator of the Year Award goes to Kevin Zahm!  Congratulations Mr. Zahm!  Mr. Zahm is a Middletown High School science teacher who is truly inspiring to his students.  His commitment to his students and his teaching methods motivate and inspire his students. We are proud to honor such an outstanding educator to our Middletown students.
