When a child experiences the death of someone they love, caregivers are often navigating their own grief while trying to support their child's. Knowing what to expect—and how to respond—can make a meaningful difference.
Join Stacey Malcolm, MS, CCLS, Certified Child Life Specialist and owner of Healing Hearts, for this one-hour educational workshop designed to help caregivers better understand childhood grief through a developmental lens.
Drawing from extensive clinical experience supporting children and families through grief and loss, Stacey will discuss:
- How children understand death at different developmental stages
- Common grief reactions by age
- How attachment and separation anxiety may emerge following a loss
- Why behavior changes, regression, and big emotions are often normal parts of the grieving process
- Practical ways to support children while caring for yourself
Caregivers will leave with a better understanding of what their child may be experiencing, age-appropriate language and coping strategies to use at home, and take-home pamphlets and resources to continue supporting their family long after the workshop ends.
