Hello Middletown Patch!

On November 1, 2026, my father, Drew McEnroe, and I (Regan McEnroe) will be running in the NYC Marathon for the Alzheimer's Association!  We are so excited to be participating in this race, and even more so to be raising funds and awareness for a cause that is very near and dear to our hearts.

Our grandmother/mother, Rita McEnroe, suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. My family, like so many others, was devastated as we watched this disease consume Rita, ultimately turning her into someone we no longer recognized. However, we are not alone. So many families are touched by this disease, each with their own story and sadness. We are running this race to honor all of the loved ones who suffered and currently suffer from this absolutely horrible disease.

We are also running to support everyone out there who may be caring for someone with Alzheimer's Disease.  Caregiving can feel incredibly isolating and often caregivers are unsure where and who to turn to in times of need. Alzheimer’s Disease continues to touch the lives of more and more families each year, but with an aging population and a dwindling long-term care workforce, we will be hard-pressed to ensure that all those who suffer receive the care they deserve.  We know how important it is to raise awareness about the resources that these caregivers can access, and that is part of our mission as well. 

We are committed to raising $10,000 to support efforts that strengthen the long-term care workforce and advance research for this disease in hopes of one day finding a cure.  We are so appreciative of all the support we have and continue to receive from family, friends, and community members. We are turning to our fellow Middletown residents to support this cause and help in the fight against Alzheimer's.
