Eagle Scouts Honored at "Gathering of Eagles"

Scouts from across Rhode Island were honored at this year's event to recognize scouts who've obtained the Eagle Scout award this year.

This year’s Eagle Scouts from the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America joined Governor Lincoln D. Chafee at the Rhode Island State House on September 3 for the annual “Gathering of Eagles.” The annual event recognized all Scouts who have received the Eagle Award throughout the history of the Council, with an emphasis on those who received the award in 2013 – 2014. Eagle Scouts were accompanied by their families, friends and local volunteer Scout leaders.

Governor Chafee presented each Eagle Scout with a citation and praised the Scouts for their hard work and achievements.

Recalling the role that Scouting played in the life of his father, the late Senator John H. Chafee, the Governor commented, “Many of Rhode Island’s past and current leaders were once Scouts themselves. Boy Scouts of America has long provided young people with the self-confidence, ethics and citizenship skills it takes to be a strong leader.”
