Updated: Police Release Identity of Other Man Killed in Maine

Richard Dickema, 55, was one of two men who died, police said.

NAPLES, MAINE — State police this morning released the name of the man killed inside his mobile home on Sunday.

Family members of Richard Dickema, 55, "were located this morning and told of his death," said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine State Police.

He was the second victim Sunday in two shootings that started around 10:45 p.m. when Norman Strobel and another man went to the door of a camper in Casco, Maine. Police say Strobel opened fire and hit Jason Almeida, 32, of Middletown.

Almeida was shot four times, underwent surgery and was hospitalized at Central Maine Medical Center. The hospital said Sunday night they could neither confirm nor deny he is a patient.

Strobel had moved into the mobile home with Dickema recently, McCausland said. "State Police continue to investigate the shootings in Casco and Naples, late Saturday night and early Sunday morning."

The Casco police issued a press statement to say the first shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 on Winifred Lane, in Casco.

It happened like this:

Two men came to the camper. At the door, "one produced a handgun and started shooting," police said. At the time two people, Almeida and Alyssa Goulet, 28, his girlfriend, also of Middletown, were inside. Goulet "escaped being wounded as the shots were fired through a window of the camp," according to Steve McCausland, spokesman for the State Police.

"The camp is owned by Sandra Goulet of Naples, the ex-girlfriend of the shooter," police said. She was not at the camp at the time of the shooting.

But Almeida was hit. He went to Bridgton Hospital by rescue but then was transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in critical condition. He underwent surgery.

The two men ran, but Alyssa Goulet recognized the shooter and identified him as Norman J. Strobel, 59. His last known address was "residing on the State Park," police said.

Casco police did not release the victims' names, but according to news outlets, Strobel was later found in Naples in a mobile home.

He was "shot to death by Cumberland deputies after an exchange of gunfire inside the mobile home." Another man in the mobile home died.

"The name of the man shot to death inside the mobile home in Naples is being withheld as police attempt to locate relatives," said McCausland. "The victim was 55 and lived at the home."

Also, McCausland said, Goulet's two dogs were found safe.

"Strobel had a protection order issued against him on Goulet's behalf, and he had taken the woman's two dogs from her home in the past week," McCausland said. "The dogs were located safe at the mobile home today."

The Criminal Investigations Division and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit are investigating.
