80-Year-Old Man Killed Crossing Road: Middletown Police
The man was crossing Coddington Highway when he was hit by a car, police said.
MIDDLETOWN, RI — An 80-year-old man was hit by a car and killed as he crossed Coddington Highway, police said.
The man was struck shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday as he crossed Coddington Highway from Underwood Lane, the Middletown Police Department said in a media release.
"Middletown Fire personnel provided medical treatment at the scene before transporting the pedestrian to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased," the release said.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to police.
