Newport Man Indicted for Robbing Cumberland Farms at Knifepoint
The Newport County Grand Jury reported out the indictment charging the 22-year-old

NEWPORT, RI—The Newport County Grand Jury has indicted a 22-year-old Newport man for an alleged knifepoint robbery at a Middletown Cumberland Farms in December.
Alexander G. Tobiassen, of 8 Beacon Hill Road, was charged with one count o first-degree robbery, felony assault and possession of a knife.
Tobiassen allegedly robbed the Cumberland Farms at 94 Aquidneck Ave. on Dec. 14, taking $30 from the clerk and assaulting a customer.

Police found Tobiassen in the parking lot of Easton’s Beach in Newport shortly after the clerk called 911 carrying the knife used in the robbery.
Tobiassen is due to be arraigned in Newport County Superior Court on March 9.

Tobiassen is currentlyy being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.
