More than the name has changed at the pilates studio at 699 Aquidneck Avenue, formerly known as Alternative Pilates and Fitness but, as the new sign out front implies, clients of the former will still find trainer local Jane Beezer hard at work.
After a brief closure this summer, the business recently re-opened Oct. 7 as "Train with Jane Athletics" and celebrated the day with a grand re-opening, complete with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony and reception for clients, invited guests and curious visitors, as well as demonstrations of new pilates training equipment.
"It's a good time of year to reopen," said Beezer. "People are back in a schedule and get back to their fitness routines. We're pretty unique in what our tools are."

Beezer has been at her 699 Aquidneck Avenue location for more than six years and changed the name to Train With Jane Athletics over the summer. She said she prides herself on running a studio that offers unique services and is "not a typical pilates studio."
The name change came along with new training equipment and techniques, she said. The studio is now equipped with Balanced Body Reformers, exercise balls, mats, and an OmGym.

The OmGym is a tool used for inversion therapy and suspension yoga. The Cirque Du Soleil inspired suspension clothes allow users zero impact exercises and stretches for a unique workout experience. Trainer Aggie Perkins demonstrated moves on the OmGym during the opening. She also performed exercises on the reformer.
Train With Jane Athletics offers resistance training and, according to the website, fitness plans are designed to promote endurance, strength, flexibility, mental focus and fun.
The studio welcomes clients of all fitness and skill levels. Pilates is a sport for "first time participants to elite athletes," said Beezer.
As a competitive triathlete, she said she does pilates workouts several times a week.
In addition to pilates and yoga workouts, Train With Jane offers several other services, such as training programs for cyclists, runners, duathlete, triathletes, skiing, and strength and conditioning. These programs run as either individual private lessons or group training sessions with three to six other athletes. One-on-one personal training for weight loss and rehabilitation conditioning is also available.
Beezer, an expert cycling coach who has been riding competitively for over 18 years,Β has competed in road, cyclocross and mountain biking events. While her time is now taken up with athletic coaching at Train With Jane, she bikes recreationally in triathlons and road races.
Jessie Kendall, a trainer for the nearby pilates studio Bridge to Fitness and specializes in resistance stretching, attended the recent grand-opening and trained with Beezers under Olympic swimmer Darra Torres. Kendall said that resistance training, which is involved in some pilates, is beneficial because it's versatile and prevents injury.
