16th Annual Interfaith Poverty Vigil Set For Jan 4th

in the RI State House Rotunda

On Thursday, January 4th faith leaders, advocates, community members and policy Leaders will come together in the Rhode Island State House rotunda to announce the 2024 legislative priorities that include housing insecurity, food insecurity, economic stability, environmental justice, criminal justice reform, healthcare and many more.

The event also marks a time when the Rhode Island Interfaith Coalition to Reduce Povertyrededicates itself to fighting poverty in the state and demands that legislative leaders take action to help the Rhode Islanders that are struggling to meet basic needs.

Traditionally, the group also meets earlier at 1pm at Gloria Dei Church in Providence to participate in a "March to the State House" proceeding to state house for the 2pm vigil.

Faith Leaders will also read aloud the names of the legislators as a blessing and a call for action.
