3 DUI Arrests In SK Since Thursday: Passenger Hospitalized

According to police, a passenger in Matthew Gould's car was taken to South County Hospital.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Police have made three separate driving under the influence of alcohol arrest since Thursday.

First Arrest:

On Thursday a little after 8:30 p.m., Michael Harrington, 51, South Kingstown was arrested on charges of driving under the influence with an unknown blood alcohol level. Police said Harrington refused a breathalyzer test.

Police said they pulled Harrington over after seeing him commit multiple traffic violations. The South Kingstown police department also received information from the North Kingstown Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police suspecting someone driving a Ford F-150 south bound on South County Trail may have been driving under the influence.

Harrington was brought to Fourth Division Court Friday.

Second Arrest:

A little before midnight on Thursday, police arrested Matthew Gould, 22, of Narragansett on charges of driving under the influence with an unknown blood alcohol level and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test.

Police had received a call that a car smashed into a telephone pole where Torrey Road and Middle Bridge Road meet.

According to police, a passenger in Gould's car was taken to South County Hospital. The car and telephone pole suffered significant damage.

Gould was brought to Fourth Division District Court Friday.

Third Arrest:

On Friday at about 2 a.m., police arrested Robert Pitts, 31, of North Providence on charges of driving under the influence with an unknown blood alcohol level and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test.

South Kingstown police said they pulled over Pitts on Tower Hill Road after seeing damage to his car.

Pitts was brought to Fourth Division District Court Friday.
