5 Things: Cash Mob, DJs and Hoops

1. Spend, Spend, Spend. South Kingstown's first cash mob to help support local small businesses takes to stores this afternoon on Main Street.

Waves of Creation owner Laura Winward organized the assemblage after reading a New York Times article about the mobs of shoppers that rush in on unexpectant local businesses and spend, spend, spend. 

Participants should meet at 3 p.m. in the parking lot across the street from , 271 Main St., Wakefield. From there, Winward will announce the name of the business to be mobbed and cash mobbers will walk as a group to the shop and spend some money.

2. Itching for some loud bass and fast beats? Catch Grammy Award-nominated Sweedish DJ Avicii tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Ryan Center, 1 Lincoln Almond Plaza, Kingston. The show costs $47.50 - $52.50.

3. Yoga for SK's seniors is free today at 10:30 a.m. at The Center, 25 Saint Dominic Road, Wakefield. Yoga has been proven to improve health through relaxation and breathing techniques, relieve stress, improves flexibility and slow the ageing process. 

4. Looking for some action? Support your favorite local high school team and get your fix:

• The South Kingstown High School girls' varsity basketball team will play today 7 p.m. against Chariho High School in the gymnasium, 215 Columbia St., Wakefield. Junior varsity hits the courts at 5:15 p.m.

5. Skies will be sunny all day today with temperatures peaking in the low-40s. Clouds will roll in as the mercury drops overnight.
