5 Things: Meditation, Meetings and Matches

Five things to know today in SK, Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.

1. will host a guided mediation tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. The meditation is open to all at a cost of $10. No experience is necessary.

2. Meeting overdose! Several of the town's boards, committees and organizations will hold meetings today so be prepared to pick and choose where you end up.

  • The School Committee Wellness Subcommittee will meet today at 3:30 p.m. at the , 307 Curtis Corner Road, Wakefield. For the agenda, click here. The committee will discuss its involvement in the town's initiative.
  • The Conservation Commission will meet today at 7 p.m. at that , 180 High St. South Kingstown Conservation Commission serves as the Town Tree Board as well as the On-site Wastewater Treatment System Commission. For the agenda, click here.
  • The South Kingstown High School Parent Teacher Group will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the high school, 215 Columbia St., Wakefield, to discuss partnerships with local businesses and the University of Rhode Island.

3. It's story time today at the , 1057 Kingstown Road. Drop-in for a story with your 3-to-5-year-old toddler at 10:30 a.m.  You'll have fun with books and stories, music, fingerplays and action rhymes, puppets, crafts, and more! Registration is not required

  • The South Kingstown girls' varsity basketball team will play tonight at 5:30 p.m. against The Lincoln School, 201 Butler Ave., Lincoln

5. Winter will not bare its icy breath today, as temperatures will again remain mild, with highs reaching intot the 50s. A 40 percent chance of rain will keep skies mostly cloudy throughout the day, but showers will stop by nightfall.
