Possibly Rabid Raccoon Lurking In South Kingstown's Potter Woods: Police

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A possibly rabid raccoon is lurking in South Kingstown's Potter Woods, the police warned.

"The South Kingstown Police Department and South Kingstown Animal Control are suggesting that people avoid the Potter Woods area due to reports of a raccoon exhibiting behavior consistent with a rabies infection," the department said in a social media post.

"If you observe a raccoon in or around Potter Woods that appears sick, disoriented, unusually aggressive, or otherwise behaving abnormally, please do not approach or attempt to capture the animal," the post said.

The department advised calling 911.
