Three Boats Damaged after Port of Galilee Fire

Multiple boats caught fire in the Port of Galilee on Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to the Port of Galilee in Narragansett early Friday for multiple boats that caught fire.

Crews responded at around 1 a.m., according to reports, and fought fires that damaged three boats, one of which sunk.

The North Kingstown Fire Department, along with crews from Narragansett, responded to the fires with both fire engines and marine units.

The Narragansett Fire Department’s Engine 2, Engine 1, Ladder 1 and Rescue 3 along with units from the Union Fire District responded.

The Narragansett Bay Marine Task Force and U.S. Coast Guard were also activated.

Some of the dock was damaged as well.

Roads in the area were closed off as crews responded and remained at the scene Friday morning.

The cause of the fires has not been determined and investigators have just begun to scrutinize the damage.
