Body Of Accused North Attleboro Shooter Found In Charlestown

The man accused of fatally shooting a Rhode Island woman on Saturday night was found dead in Charlestown on Sunday.

CHARLESTOWN, RI — The body of the man accused of fatally shooting a woman in South Attleboro on Saturday was found in Charlestown on Sunday, police said. The suspect, Steven Fregeolle, 32, of Johnston is believed is believed to have taken his own life.

Around 6 p.m. on Saturday, Brandi Berg, a 37-year-old woman from Riverside, Rhode Island, was shot while inside her vehicle outside of the Fashion Crossing Plaza in North Attleboro. Berg was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police identified Fregeolle as the primary suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest and said he would be charged with murder when arrested.

On Sunday morning, Fregeolle's car was found abandoned in Charlestown, near the Francis C. Carter Memorial Preserve, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office said. His body was found in the area later that day, the victim of an apparent suicide, the DA's office reported.
