CHARLESTOWN, RI — Burlingame State Campground will not reopen this week due to extensive damage from Tropical Storm Henri, the Department of Environmental Management said Thursday.

The storm brought down about 150 trees on the property, the DEM said. Initially, it was set to remain closed until "at least Thursday." Now, the department expects to reopen the campground on Tuesday.

Refunds are being processed for anyone with a reservation during the closure. Campers can reach out to the Burlingame Permit Office at 401-409-1138 or Rhode Island State Parks Headquarters at 401-667-6200 with any questions about reservations.
