This year’s Azalea Days is an event you won’t want to miss!

Throughout May, experience the vibrant, almost surreal colors of our azaleas in full bloom. Enjoy exclusive workshops, special guest appearances, and unique seasonal displays celebrating the beauty of the gardens. Stop by for a leisurely walk or bring a picnic and linger awhile.

Celebrate the beauty of spring at Azalea Days in the Kinney Azalea Gardens! Join us for a month-long tribute to our historic azalea bloom, featuring guided tours, delightful azalea teas, and special programming.

Tickets are best purchased in advance to guarantee your spot. Discounts are available for members, military personnel, seniors, and students.

Last admission is at 4:00 pm, but guests are welcome to stay and enjoy the gardens afterward.

Local Author Dave Schoorens Book Signing at Wakefield Books for his new book, Captive – a gripping story about an author who is doxed and hunted for a novel that sparks a national firestorm, and who must learn to navigate a landscape where truth is a casualty and his fellow citizens are the enemy. Enjoy a self-guided walking tour of the Nathanael Greene Homestead property, learning the story of the Greene’s involvement in the American Revolution and their legacy after the war.
The “Revolutionary RI250 History Hunt” is part of a series of statewide interactive scavenger-hunt style experiences produced by MyFreshAdventures, in partnership with the Battle of Rhode Island Association. A mobile-app will guide your tour and delivers historian videos, trivia and puzzle challenges, making learning fun for all ages!
On May 3rd, there will be re-enactors, speakers, and tours of the colonial home owned by Nathanael and Caty Greene.&nbsp; The event is free, but the History Hunt tour experience costs $25.

Art lovers in Wakefield can enjoy a hands-on creative experience at Rebekah Cook Art on Friday, May 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
The Stoneware Surf &amp; Sand Pottery Painting Workshop invites participants to explore a beach-inspired glazing technique that captures the look of water meeting sand. The session is open to all experience levels, with guidance provided throughout.
The $20 workshop fee includes instruction and light refreshments. Attendees will select and purchase their stoneware piece separately during the event. Finished pottery is functional and safe for use in the microwave, oven, and dishwasher.
Guests are also welcome to bring their own beverages.

The sale features a variety of perennials that have been lovingly cultivated in members’ gardens, in addition to colorful locally sourced geraniums. Beautiful outdoor art pressed flower notecards and bookmarks will be available as well as teacups filled with flowers and outdoor decorative cement leaves designed for a variety of uses in the garden. All are fabulous Mother’s Day items, or grab one for yourself, while they last!!!In addition, there will be Planting Demonstrations at 10:30 and a Raffe.&nbsp;Experienced Garden Club members will help gardeners make selections for their yards. Come join the fun, people come to our sale year after year to buy our quality plants, telling us that our plants thrive and come back every year. Please note cash and checks are only accepted as payment. Proceeds from the plant sale will help us supports youth gardens and nature programs as well as South County charities and programs.

Kingston English Country DanceSliding scale, $10 - $15English Country Dance is danced to live music, all dances are taught and called. Come early for a little added instruction. You don't need to bring a partner, partners change throughout the program. There is no fancy footwork needed and the steps are extremely easy: it’s essentially walking through space in patterns or “figures.”&nbsp;The dances most frequently involve long lines of couples—a “couple” being any two people dancing together as partners—interacting with other couples on the dance floor.

Linford Fisher in Conversation with Vanessa Lillie, 6:30pm at Narragansett Library to discuss Fisher’s new book Stealing America: The Hidden Story of Indigenous Slavery in U.S. History, which not only uncovers a five-century genocidal history but also illuminates the myriad ways Native Americans have fought for their sovereignty and maintained community. Linford D. Fisher is Associate Professor of History at Brown University and a specialist in early American and Native American history. He is the author of The Indian Great Awakening: Religion and the Shaping of Native Cultures in Early America, the co-author of two edited collections on Roger Williams, and has published a dozen academic essays. He is also the Principal Investigator of a tribal collaborative database project titled Stolen Relations: Recovering Stories of Indigenous Enslavement in the Americas. Vanessa Lillie is the author of the thrillers The Bone Thief, Blood Sisters, Little Voices and For the Best. She also serves as a board member for the Tomaquag Museum in Exeter, RI. Originally from Oklahoma, Vanessa is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. A patriotic seascape painting workshop will be held on Friday, May 15 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Rebekah Cook Art, located at 344 Main Street in Wakefield.
This beginner-friendly class offers step-by-step instruction, making it accessible to all skill levels. Participants will create a coastal-inspired painting with a patriotic theme.
The $55 registration fee includes all materials, instruction, and light refreshments, as well as coffee and tea. The event is also BYOB-friendly.

South County Art Association

South County Art Association invites you to our Annual ‘Quality Seconds’ Pottery and Art Sale, featuring perfectly imperfect pottery at perfect prices. Seconds pottery can be a bit wonky with minor imperfections, but it doesn't affect the overall beauty and usability of the piece. This is pottery with extra character! This event is a testament to the strong support of our local potters, who donate hundreds of pottery pieces throughout the year to support our nonprofit. You'll find mugs, plates, bowls, vases, and platters. We’ll also be offering demonstrations in pottery wheel throwing and printmaking techniques, so you can get a behind-the-scenes look at the artmaking process. From 9am to 2pm. Our 53rd Annual Earthworks Exhibition will be on view featuring works of clay from local artists. Our gallery store will be open and is filled with our members' art! From 9am to 5pm.

Rustic-chic private farm venue in scenic Stonington, CT 

Deans Mill Farm 

Built in the mid-1700s as a functioning livestock farm, Deans Mill Farm has gone through an evolution in recent decades. A full renovation of the historic buildings and rejuvenation of the surrounding 70+ acres has made the property into the incredible venue it is today. Deans Mill Farm now operates primarily as a private event space and five-room bed and breakfast tucked down a private road in Stonington, Connecticut. It shares its property with Dragonfly Equestrian Center and is home to dozens of horses. On the property lies meadows, hiking trails, beautiful fields and Dragonfly Disc Golf. The property can be rented for weddings, birthday parties and other special events. Additionally, the bed and breakfast can be rented by the room or reserved in its entirety for complete privacy. The Farm has the ability to host small private indoor events for up to 50 guests in the Farmhouse. Outdoor tented events are our specialty, with numerous locations on-site that are picturesque for your celebration. Outdoor tented celebrations can accommodate up to 250 guests.
