This evocative afternoon of song features a gifted ensemble of voices, past and present, led by Dr. Scheff himself. A veteran of music with over 1,600 stage appearances in opera, concerts, and oratorio nationwide - and a dedicated Cantor since 1970 - Fred brings a lifetime of artistry to the stage. This is one afternoon of song and stories that you won’t want to miss!

South County Art Association

South County Art Association invites you to our Annual ‘Quality Seconds’ Pottery and Art Sale, featuring perfectly imperfect pottery at perfect prices. Seconds pottery can be a bit wonky with minor imperfections, but it doesn't affect the overall beauty and usability of the piece. This is pottery with extra character! This event is a testament to the strong support of our local potters, who donate hundreds of pottery pieces throughout the year to support our nonprofit. You'll find mugs, plates, bowls, vases, and platters. We’ll also be offering demonstrations in pottery wheel throwing and printmaking techniques, so you can get a behind-the-scenes look at the artmaking process. From 9am to 2pm. Our 53rd Annual Earthworks Exhibition will be on view featuring works of clay from local artists. Our gallery store will be open and is filled with our members' art! From 9am to 5pm.

Local Author Niles Major Book Signing at Wakefield Books for his new novel, Narragansett Wild. Narragansett Wild tells the story of Rook Williams, a rich-kid sailor turned biker, a draft dodger with a sharp mind and a hunger for infamy. He hits URI and Narragansett Pier in the late 1960s chasing trouble and finds it in Jimmy Chin, a lifeguard, a leader of men, a drug smuggler with zero inhibitions, and the most popular guy in town. Inspired by true events, Narragansett Wild is a gritty, fast-moving crime saga about freedom, rebellion, and the price of chasing legend. Niles Major spent years by the water, first as a lifeguard, then as a sailor chasing wind past the edges of the map. The sea taught him to pay attention: to silence, to danger, to the signs that come before a storm. He didn’t start writing until his forties. Now, his work leans into the places memory and imagination meet, where every character has a past, and every horizon holds something just out of view. A hands-on ceramic workshop, “Berry Bowl Clay Class,” will be held on Sunday, May 17 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Rebekah Cook Art in Wakefield.
Participants will learn hand-building techniques to create a functional ceramic berry bowl from raw clay. The class is open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced makers.
The $55 fee includes all materials, instruction, and kiln firings. Finished pieces will be completed after firing and ready for use.
Advance registration is encouraged.

Rustic-chic private farm venue in scenic Stonington, CT 

Deans Mill Farm 

Built in the mid-1700s as a functioning livestock farm, Deans Mill Farm has gone through an evolution in recent decades. A full renovation of the historic buildings and rejuvenation of the surrounding 70+ acres has made the property into the incredible venue it is today. Deans Mill Farm now operates primarily as a private event space and five-room bed and breakfast tucked down a private road in Stonington, Connecticut. It shares its property with Dragonfly Equestrian Center and is home to dozens of horses. On the property lies meadows, hiking trails, beautiful fields and Dragonfly Disc Golf. The property can be rented for weddings, birthday parties and other special events. Additionally, the bed and breakfast can be rented by the room or reserved in its entirety for complete privacy. The Farm has the ability to host small private indoor events for up to 50 guests in the Farmhouse. Outdoor tented events are our specialty, with numerous locations on-site that are picturesque for your celebration. Outdoor tented celebrations can accommodate up to 250 guests.
