Community In Mourning Following URI Student Death
The University of Rhode Island has grief counselors available on campus following the death of a student on Saturday.

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Grief counselors are available on the University of Rhode Island campus following the sudden death of a student on Saturday.
"The University of Rhode Island is saddened by the loss this weekend of one of our community members," read a statement released by the university.
Starting Sunday and for the rest of the semester, grief counselors are available for students.

Greek Life or College of Nursing students can make arrangements to meet with counselors in a group.
Students can also make appointments through the university's counseling center, which has walk-in hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment.

Starting Monday, parents will have the opportunity to speak with staff members on the best way to support grieving students.
The following offices are available for student support:
- Dean of Students Office: 302 Memorial Union. Appointments available by calling 401-874-9411.
- Health Services: Potter Building, 6 Butterfield Rd. Open Minday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
- Psychological Consultation Center: Chafee Social Sciences Building, Suite 100. Open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Call 401-874-4263 for information or 401-874-4264 to schedule an intake.
- Campus Chaplains: To reach a campus chaplain, contact Amy Olsen by email or by calling 401-874-2740.
According to WPRI, emergency responders were called to 4 Fraternity Circle just after 8:30 a.m. Saturday. A female student was found unresponsive and transported to South County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released at this time.
