District Court Log: February 10, 2011

The following cases were heard before Judge Mary McCaffery in Fourth District Court on Thursday.

Robert Miller, 56, of 481 Carolina Back Rd. in Charlestown pleaded not guilty to a Jan. 30 charge of driving under the influence of alcohol in South Kingstown.  He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance and a pre-trial conference has been scheduled for Feb. 24.

David Benson, 38, of 92 Shepard Dr. in South Kingstown pleaded no contest to a charge of driving with a suspended license.  He was fined $639.50.

Gregory P. O’Neill, 37, of 360 Hillsdale Rd. in Richmond pleaded no contest to a  charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, second offense within five years, in South Kingstown on October 7, 2010.  He was fined $1,110.50 and sentenced to serve 20 days of home confinement.  His license was also suspended for one year, and he was ordered to complete 60 hours of community service.  He was also remanded to substance abuse counseling and dismissed of a charge of refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Stephanie L. Dacosta, 22, of 76 Community Drive in South Kingstown pleaded not guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct on November 30, 2010 in South Kingstown. She was released on $1,250 and a pre-trial conference is scheduled for Feb. 24.

Peter J. Bacon, 32, of 43 Crestwood Lane in Charlestown was dismissed of a charge of simple assault in South Kingstown on September 12, 2010 at the request of the victim.  Bacon made a donation of $150 to the victims of crimes indemnity fund.

John Cook, 44, of 99 Oak Dell St. in South Kingstown was ordered held without bail on Feb. 10 after being found in violation of the terms of his probation relating to charges of disorderly conduct, assault, and resisting arrest in South Kingstown on September 19, 2010.  Cook was arrested by the South Kingstown Police Department on January 28, 2011 and charged with disorderly conduct.
