Selective Memory...

Today, at, precisely, 6:51 AM occurred the Summer -Solstice, bringing about the longest, daylight-hours, and, the first day of Summer. The summer solstice, AKA, June -Solstice occurs when the sun's zenith is at its furthest point from the equator. During the June solstice it reaches its northernmost point and the Earth’s North Pole tilts directly towards the sun, at about 23.5 degrees. It is also known as the Northern- Solstice because it occurs when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Cancer in the northern hemisphere. If the Earth's rotation was at right angles to the plane of its orbit around the sun, there would be no solstice days and no seasons. Regardless, the 'science' behind the event, I am simply, 'stunned', that, it is, in fact, SUMMER, already! WHERE does the time go? When I think 'back in time', and, not that far back, 'to boot', memories of 'trudging' through MANY inches of snow are, still, 'fresh' in my mind, yet, but a memory; And, on some level, it's as if it never occurred at all. The passage of time can be a 'strange' thing, to say the least. Now, that the ground is shed of snow, and the grass, green, it is, ALMOST, as if we never experienced those, cold and snowy days, at all. As we go along, in life, on our journey, time passes...'yesterday' fades, and, we become 'obsessed' with the things of today...of the moment...often, causing us to forget the things of the past. In some instances, this can be a 'good' thing, for to hang onto the negative aspects of past-events, in our lives, is NOT healthy or positive. As it, sometimes, happens, when these 'difficulties' occur, we, may, also, 'forget' the One, whom we, ideally, would call to mind, to help us through our 'hard-times'...Our Lord. It seems an easy thing to do, to put God on the 'back-burner', to 'blame' Him for our woes, or... to believe Him not to be a presence in our lives, when things take a turn for the worse. To 'give-up' on God is a common, reaction, that, many experience, when suffering the hardships in life; yet, it's important to know, that, God NEVER gives up on us, and, is, ALWAYS, here, even when we might think otherwise. So, when we are feeling overwhelmed and forgotten it is important to recall ALL that He has done for us, and, to remember NOT to forget, that He always, 'has our back'! Just Sayin'...
