Avenue Q matinees at Courthouse Center for the Arts

“Avenue Q” is coming to the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston, RI in its first Rhode Island production.  The story is a witty Sesame Street satire that explores the tough details of grown-up life.

The show is directed by Richard Ericson, Director of the Courthouse Center for the Arts.  JonPaul Rainville is assistant director and choreographer. Musical director is Lila Kane.  Puppet master Nora Eschenheimer will design and make all puppets.

Performances will be Feb. 16-March 4, 2012 at the Courthouse Center for the Arts, 3481 Kingstown Rd., West Kingston, RI, Thurs. and Fri. at 7 p.m., Sat. at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sun. at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $15-$25.  For group sales, contact Martha Stamp, groupsales@courthousearts.org.  401-782-1018 .  “Avenue Q” is not suitable for children.

 To follow the Courthouse Center’s agenda of bringing the arts together, there will be kid-friendly puppet programs during the run of this adult “puppet show”.  The downstairs galleries will display the stunning marionette and puppet stage collection of Dan Butterworth throughout the run of “Avenue Q”. 

Puppet workshops are scheduled for Feb. 25, 26, March 3 and 4 at 11 a.m., shows will follow at 12:30 p.m. Workshops are $20.
