Free Concert: URI Saxophone Studio Ensembles

The URI Saxophone Quartets and Ensembles will offer a varied program for their evening concert on April 11. They will perform selections from jazz standard repertoire and composers Poulenc, Mingus, Debussy, Neihaus, and Howland. They will also perform Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Lady arranged by Dr. Jared Sims for eight saxophones (written for 2012 New Hampshire All-State Saxophones), as well as an original saxophone ensemble piece written by Sims (for the 2012 Saxophone Day at Salem State College). Sims, a prolific recording artist and Boston-based performer, teaches jazz and saxophone for the URI Jazz Program. Come and hear how versatile the saxophone can be!
