God of Carnage

Ocean State Theatre Company, currently celebrating its Fifth Anniversary Season as the not-for-profit producing entity at the historic Theatre By The Sea, is thrilled to present the Tony® Award-winning smash hit, God of Carnage. The Rhode Island Premiere presentation will enjoy a limited run at Theatre By The Sea from September 6 - 16.

The newest play from Yasmina Reza, the Tony® Award-winning author of Art, focuses on two sets of parents, who meet to discuss a fight between their sons at a nearby park. Although they set out to resolve the childhood quarrel with civility and maturity, they resort to childish antics themselves as the evening soon turns to chaos. Winner of both the Tony® and Olivier Awards for Best Play, the Broadway production was hailed as being “first class” by Ben Brantley of The New York Times, “hilarious yet surprisingly thoughtful comedy” by the Associated Press, while David Rooney of Variety proclaimed “It's Reza's sharpest work since ‘Art.’" God of Carnage contains adult language and content.

Directed by Producing Artistic Director, Amiee Turner, who directed this season’s critically acclaimed production of The Sound of Music, the talented cast includes Broadway (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) and film and television (The Nanny Diaries, Ed, “All My Children”) performer Kevin Kraft and bicoastal (New York and Los Angeles) actress Marianne Ferrari, whose solo play Guido Girl was performed off Broadway, as Alan and Annette Raleigh. In the roles of Michael and Veronica Novak are Robert Ierardi, who, in addition to his stage appearances, played the recurring role of the police dispatcher on “The Guiding Light” and Lisa Ann Goldsmith, who’s worked off Broadway (Manhattan Ensemble Theatre), regionally (Pittsburgh CLO, Tulsa Shakespeare in the Park) and in film (The Next Three Days, Love and Other Drugs, One for the Money). All four performers are making their Theatre By The Sea stage debuts.
