International Day of Peace Celebration on the URI Quad

The Center for Nonviolence & Peace Studies and the Student Nonviolence Involvement Committee will be hosting their Annual International Day of Peace Celebration on the URI Quad.  The Celebrations are a part of a global celebration of and commitment to peace, nonviolence, and social justice. People will do FREE HUG events for WORLD PEACE as a world-wide peace demonstration on this day.  

Special Guest and Level I Kingian Nonviolence Trainer, Ginny Fox, will join us to lead her community Peace Flag Project

12-3PM: Join us at the Quad for Peace Day festivities, Peace Flag making, Free Hugs for World Peace, and more. Meet the Student Nonviolence Involvement Committee (SNIC), the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA), members of and Kingian Nonviolence trainers from the Center for Nonviolence & Peace Studies. Give us a Free Hug and you might get in the Free Hugs for World Peace international video!

7-8PM: Candle Light Vigil on the Quad. Together we will walk in peace around the URI quad, stopping at each corner to share reflections, music, and meditation. Candles will be provided. Bring your family and friends!

8-10PM: Screening of Jeremy Gilley's film "Peace One Day" at the Multicultural Center Hardge Forum.
The story of Jeremy Gilley's attempts to persuade the global community via the United Nations to sanction officially a day without conflict; a ceasefire day; a global day of Peace.

All Events are FREE & Open to the Public
