Once upon a time you could reach in Rhode Island waters and pull up handfuls of scallops. For many older Rhode Islanders, fond childhood memories are filled with stories of these creatures. In recent years, however, bay scallop populations have declined
significantly as a result of overfishing and habitat loss. The result: there is no commercial fishery remaining in Rhode Island. Save The Bay, in partnership with community partners andvolunteers, is working to restore the scallop population in Rhode Island. Join us to learn more about our efforts to reintroduce the bay scallop to Pt. Judith Pond and discover how you can get involved. Admission is free
