The Transit of Venus 2012

On June 5th, 2012, The Transit of Venus, an astronomical phenomenon that will never again be seen by anyone alive today will occur.  This transit involves the planet Venus appearing to cross the face of the Sun.  Although in the past a Venus transit was a very important occurrence for astronomical measurement, in 2012 it will be an event to be observed, the result of the Earth, Venus and the Sun being in a perfect alignment.  This will not occur again until December 11th, 2117.

Join us in Ninigret Park for this opportunity of a lifetime on Tuesday June 5th, 2012 starting at 4:00 p.m. We will observe the sun from 4:00 p.m. - 6:40 p.m. then the actual transit from 6:44 p.m. till sunset. We will have safe viewing options for viewers to experience this fantastic astronimical event.
