Flash Flood Risk In Rhode Island For Evening Storms
As much as four inches of rain could fall in parts of Rhode Island during the overnight hours and into early Thursday morning.
PROVIDENCE, RI — After a dry start to the day, heavy rain is on the way to Rhode Island Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service declared a flash flood watch statewide from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.
Rain is expected to arrive after 3 p.m., becoming heavy in the overnight hours. Between one and three inches of rain are expected, though some areas could see as much as four inches of rain by Thursday morning.
Heavy rainfall could cause localized street flooding and rapid rises in small streams and creeks, the Coventry Emergency Management Agency warned.
