As part of their preparation for their gig in the international spotlight, the band will be playing at the Narragansett Tower’s Gazebo (25 Ocean Road) on Wednesday night (July 30th) FOR FREE!! at 7:00 p.m. PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD-this was a last minute addition and the weather is predicted to be ideal!!! Bring a lawn chair and tons of friends to cheer SKHS seniors lead trumpet Willie Grear, lead Alto Sax Genn Yu, and all of the rest of the band on! Each member of the band has a great story about how they earned their spot on the band last November. Because the music is designed for one player per part, each member is the state champion on his/her instrument. You may recognize Tenor Sax player Andrew Miner, who won the Wendy’s High School Heisman Trophy last fall and is headed off to play football at Harvard in a few weeks. Willie Grear just returned from a prestigious 3 week long jazz workshop at NYU where he studied jazz piano and trumpet with some of the legends in the jazz world. You will surely be amazed at the level of performance these young artists thrive in.
Bring a beach chair and relax in the gorgeous setting along the Narragansett Beach next to the Towers listening to some fantastic young artists playing high level jazz all for free the Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.! Special thanks to Tom Tesatory and Narragansett Parks and Rec for making this performance possible.
