Girl Scout Service Project Entertains Community

On Wednesday, August 28, local children performed Madame Xavier's Mystery, an entertaining play that was the culmination of a summer's worth

Anna Blaney is a Senior Scout from South Kingstown Troop 263 and sophomore at SKHS. For her Scout Silver and Gold Torch Award, she undertook the challenge of producing and directing an original play with a cast of thirteen children ranging in age from 7 to 15. Blaney, a frequent performer in SKHS Rebel Theater, CTC (Contemporary Theater Company) and GEAR (Give Everyone A Role) productions said that the experience helped her to appreciate all the work that goes into making a successful performance. In her opening remarks she cited booking the venue, casting the actors, creating the set and obtaining costumes, as well as directing and promoting the play. The production featured friends, family and fellow Girl Scouts. The two performances were held last week at the Neighborhood Guild for the public, and at Brightview Commons for residents of the senior living facility.
