Governor Chafee Visits Charlestown Businesses [Video]

Governor Chafee came down to Charlestown Tuesday morning to visit with local business owners and discuss challenges that small businesses face in rural towns and communities.

At the invitation of Rep. Donna Walsh, Governor Lincoln Chafee visited small business owners along Charlestown’s historic “downtown,” on Old Post Road to discuss the challenges small businesses face in small towns and rural areas.

The Governor’s visit began at 9 AM at the newly renovated and expanded Pat’s Power at 3992 Old Post Road. Governor Chafee went next door to visit new business Adare’s Boutique, where we stopped to see him at. Kathleen, the owner, was more than happy to speak with him and tell him about her shop.

“Rural coastal communities like Charlestown don’t get a lot of attention in Providence,” Rep. Walsh said. “We are very proud of our town and our efforts to encourage small business creation. We’re very pleased that Governor Chafee has made the time to see Charlestown and talk to our citizens.”
