Heavy Downpours, Severe Thunderstorms Possible In Rhode Island

More rain is on the way to Rhode Island Monday, with the chance for severe weather in the afternoon and evening hours.

All of the state is under a "marginal" risk of severe storms from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Isolated thunderstorms could bring heavy downpours and localized flooding, as well as damaging wind gusts.

Later in the week, Rhode Island is expected to get hit by the remnants of Hurricane Ida, bringing as much as 6 inches of rain to the state Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Scattered showers, mainly after 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Southwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
