Hi-'Talk'...NOT, High-Tech...

   There is a fairly, new-commercial, being aired, of late, and one, which, REALLY, 'drives-home' the 'new'-reality, regarding the way some folks 'parent' their children, these, days, relying on 'technology' to interact with them, rather than to 'communicate' with them, and, engage them, otherwise. This advertisement, from 'Dish' is one promoting the idea, that, the ONLY way to 'deal' with 'unruly' children is to stick a 'screen', offering them a movie, in their faces to keep them occupied. I know, all, too well, that, this is the new, 'way of the world', this, incessant need, by some, to be, CONSTANTLY, involved with some, sort of computerized-'company', and, I am older, having 'grown-up' in an era whereby we, ACTUALLY, interacted with people, and, NOT 'things'; but...REALLY? Some studies, being conducted, of late, show a delay in the development of babies and their learning to talk, due to Moms being 'distracted' by a need to be on their cell-phones, rather, than to talk to their, own, children, offering stimulation and, loving-interaction, especially, in situations, such, as while driving the car. Certainly, I am not suggesting, that, ALL parents 'rear' their children, in this, manner, these,days; Yet, a great-majority of the 'younger-generation(s) definitely, DO, subscribe to the 'world of technology' to a great, degree. Some children will NEVER know a life, free from the focus on 'high-tech', beginning with 'Baby-Einstein', all the way to 'whatever' the 'NEW'-technology will be, somewhere, 'down the road', as they grow. IS this a 'good-thing'? Well...from where I 'stand', I say, NO, for, already, there exists a society seemingly unable to do much, which, doesn't include technological-involvement, driving more of a 'wedge' into people's ability to talk, 'face to face'. Technology, in and of itself, is a, 'good thing', offering many, aspects which enhance our world; However, it ought NEVER replace certain, areas of personal-interaction, especially, between that of parents and their, children. Just Sayin'...
