League of Women Voter South County Announces 2018Candidate Forums

LWVSC Solicits Questions From The Public

The League of Women Voters - South County is pleased to announce the “Meet the Candidates Nights” for Narragansett and South Kingstown for the upcoming November election. The forum schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, October 3, 2018:

6:30PM: Narragansett School Committee Candidates

8:00PM: Narragansett Town Council Candidates

6:30PM: South Kingstown School Committee Candidates

Wednesday, October 24, 2018:

6:30PM: RI State Senate Candidates from District 35

RI State Representative Candidates from District 33

8:00PM: RI State Senate Candidates from District 36

RI State Representative from Districts 34 and 35

All the Narragansett and South Kingstown forums will be held at Narragansett Town Hall (25 5th Ave, Narragansett, RI 02882) and will be broadcast live and rebroadcast on Cox channel 18 & Verizon (Fios) channel 29.

These biannual election year forums provide an opportunity for voters to learn more about the candidates campaigning for offices in Narragansett and South Kingstown and representing these towns in the state legislature. During the forums, each candidate will be given the opportunity to answer as many questions as time allows and an opportunity to make a closing statements. Forums with fewer than six candidates will also have an opening statement. The League urges voters not to miss this chance to meet the candidates and hear their views about the issues that are important to you. There will be no forum for Senate District 37 as the candidate seeking election for this position is running unopposed.

We encourage voters and other interested parties to become involved by submitting questions. Questions may be submitted until seven days prior to the date of the forum. Questions may be submitted anonymously via a Google Form linked to the League’s Facebook page at: facebook.com/lwvrisc.Questions may also be submitted by email to: www.lwvrisc@gmail.com or by mail to: LWVSC, P.O. Box 1636, Westerly, RI 02891-1636. Questions received after submission deadlines will not be considered. Membership in The League of Women Voters is open to men and women who are interested in working in a non-partisan manner to improve our government and to impact public policies through citizen education and advocacy. Current league activities include: voter registration drives, programs on specific issues, and administration of the Susan B. Wilson Civic Education Merit Awards.
