Level II Sex Offender Accused Of Trespassing And Stalking

NARRAGANSETT, RI — A convicted Level II sex offender who police said has a history of stalking and harassment is facing trespassing charges. Police Saturday arrested Brett Black, 47 of Narragansett and is also the suspect in a recent burglary.

Police said between Sept. 16 and 22 they received multiple calls about a suspicious man near the Eastward Look neighborhood.

Black was looking in windows while crouching behind bushes in people's backyards, police said. He was also testing to see if doors were unlocked.

At about 11 p.m. Saturday, police said they found Black behind a bush in the backyard of a house at Sakonnet Boulevard. The push was directly below the first floor window. When police confronted Black, he tried getting away on his bicycle.

According to police, Black told officers he was in the backyard because he is afraid of drunk drivers when he is rides his bike at night.

Black, who police said has been the subject of several stalking and harassment complaints over the last eight years was arraigned at the Narragansett Police Station. He's scheduled for re-arraignment on October 2 at Fourth Division District Court in Wakefield.
