Library holds Stone Soup Story and Buffet Event

Restaurants, fire department and library join together in the annual event held Jan. 26

The Friends of the Narragansett Library invite the community to the annual Stone Soup Story and Buffet Saturday, January 26, from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library. Fire Chief Scott Partington opens the event by reading the classic children's story, Stone Soup, a folk tale about traveling soldiers who seek the help of villagers in their time of need. Following the story, join with others for a free soup buffet, featuring soups created by local restaurants. Entry to the buffet is free with the donation of a non-perishable food or personal hygiene item. Donations will be distributed to the St. Peter's-by-the-Sea Food Pantry for local residents in need. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Narragansett Library, and is for all ages. The Maury Loontjens Memorial Library is at 35 Kingstown Rd., Narragansett, RI. For information call the library at 401-789-9507.
