Marina Fire Damages Several Boats In Wakefield

One building was deemed a total loss.

WAKEFIELD, RI — Several boats were damaged by a fire Sunday afternoon at the Ram Point Marina, according to authorities.

Firefighters responded around 2:20 p.m. to the blaze in a building at the marina on William Schmid Drive in Wakefield, authorities said.

They arrived to find a storage garage engulfed in flames, but were able to contain the blaze to the building, which was deemed a total loss, according to the Union Fire District of South Kingstown.

No injuries were reported, but several boats stored nearby were damaged by heat from the heavy flames, authorities said.
