Narragansett Police Welcome 4-Legged Officer To The Force

NARRAGANSETT, RI — The Narragansett Police Department announced the addition of its newest, furriest officer on Tuesday. Napoleon, or Nappy as he's called, is a 22-month-old Dutch Shepherd from France.

Nappy and his handler, Patrolman Bassett, are undergoing training at the Rhode Island K9 Academy to become certified in both patrol and explosives. Once complete, Nappy will work in patrol, as well as sniff for explosives at community events throughout the town, at area beaches and the Port of Galilee.

"Welcome aboard, Nappy!" the department said on Facebook.
